Do you have a digital camera lying around that you’d love to learn how to use in manual mode or do you have questions about using your phone’s manual camera settings?
Come out on a session with me, Annie, to learn the basics of your camera, including the ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed and what makes them essential to capture what you want. I’ll also teach you about what makes a great photo, but also to leave the rules and boundaries behind to create art that means something to you.
We’ll go outside into the forest at FireLoch so you can try out your new skills and capture Spring in all her glory. If the sky is clear, we can play a little with shadows and different lighting settings so you can leave with the confidence to create art and capture special memories.
Participants will need to bring your own camera – any type! If you happen to have a spare camera kicking around that you are happy to lend for this workshop, please reach out!
I encourage folks to bring a friend (or mum – its’ mothers day!) to this workshop to have as a potential subject to photograph, but you are also more than welcome to come solo if you’d prefer.
We will spend a little time going over the basic settings of your camera, and I will provide you with a cheat sheet to take home with you so you can remind yourself of what you have learned. I will also be happy to answer any questions and show you how to capture something specific if you wish before we head outside. Total time for this workshop will be around 1.5-2 hours.

Join us for a transformative two-day experience where we explore The Art of Hosting facilitation techniques to create gatherings that cultivate deep connection, bridge divides, and strengthen community. In a world that often feels disconnected, the way we come together matters. Whether you’re a community leader, facilitator, organizer, or simply someone who wants to host more intentional gatherings, this workshop will equip you with practical tools to:
✨ Design gatherings that foster trust and engagement
🤝 Facilitate conversations that build understanding across differences
🌍 Strengthen communities through meaningful participation
Led by experienced practitioners in The Art of Hosting, this event will be an immersive, participatory journey where we learn together by doing. Expect a blend of storytelling, dialogue, and real-time application that will shift the way you think about hosting and gathering. We will spend time in immersive exploration of Circle Practice, The Art of Powerful Questions, Proaction Café, Inclusive space design, Collective decision making.
📅 June 6th 10am-6pm, June 7th 9-3pm
⏳ Two days of interactive learning, meaningful dialogue, and hands-on practice
Space is limited to 20 participants, true cost of this training is $925+tx per person and we will work to offer a sliding scale to create accessibility to the best of our abilities. Please reach out to talk about making this gathering accessible for you.
A note about accommodations: a block of rooms has been reserved at the MicroTel Inn and Suites for a discounted rate. These rooms will be available to book until March 15th and after that rooms will be on an as-available basis. Camping is always available for free for brave souls at FireLoch too 😉
