Make Your Move Antigonish in partnership with The Arts House Antigonish and FireLoch welcome you to our family friendly “Stone Soup” Event!
Have you ever heard the classic folk tale ‘Stone Soup’? As the story goes, a hungry traveler arrives in a village where people are hesitant to share their food because of scarcity. The traveller cleverly convinces them to contribute ingredients to a pot of delicious soup, starting with just a stone and water, which leads to a communal meal where everyone shares what little they have and reminds us the value of cooperation and sharing.
We will put our own spin on this classic, starting with a delicious base of soup created by the team at FreshFood Matters. Attendees are welcome to bring something to add – a carrot, a potato, maybe bread or rolls for the tables or a sweet treat to share? While the team from FreshFood Matters stirs the pot we will all go for a walk in the beautiful forest at FireLoch to MAKE OUR MOVE, then come back to share a meal. Excitingly, artists from the Arts House will be donating beautiful handmade pottery bowls – enter your name in the draw and you can eat your soup from one of these beautiful creations and take it home with you too!
Cash donations will be accepted during this event, with all profits going to the Coalition to End Poverty (coordinators of the Antigonish Community Fridge and the Community Soup events at the Antigonish Farmers Market)
When taking a free ticket please take one ticket for every person attending including children.
Transportation will be available with thanks to the Antigonish Community Transit, leaving from the Library at 10:30am. Share a ride and reduce your carbon footprint!
